Brief Founder/Company
Bio
Like many of his clients, Neil spent several years in the corporate world, working hard and climbing the corporate ladder at American Airlines/American Eagle. Then came a change in Sr. Management at the company and boom, he was fired. Turns out, this was one the best things that could have happen to him. Neil had been an airline guy for the past 15 years and got burned out awhile back, on airplanes constantly, many hotel rooms, junk food etc.
Then the light bulb went off at age 38, asking himself, why not do your own gig vs. going back to the corporate world. He pitched an idea to start another company by some money guys who liked his idea and asked for a business plan. Neil spent the next few months putting the business plan together in order to raise a bunch of money from the venture capital world.
He did not get the money but along the way, other entrepreneur friends asked for his assistance in writing their own business plan and investor presentations. So Neil decided to start The Courage Group in order to help other entrepreneurs. So it was off to the Windy city of Chicago to start the business. And like the majority of pure scratch entrepreneurs, no clients and limited funds. ($2,460 in savings)
When asked why name the company The Courage Group, what is the one thing all entrepreneurs need, courage. Plus, Neil thought about his Dad and all the other U.S. Army Infantrymen who served in The Korean War, which was really courage
